What is a Disciple?
It is our calling as a Christian organization to make disciples of Jesus Christ. A disciple is defined as a learner, a pupil, one who comes to be taught. (Matthew 28:19-20)

Welcome
We are pleased that you are interested in this unique spiritual program and look forward to working closely with you to provide you with structure during the changes that will take place in your life. We believe that God has great things in store for those who seek and follow Christ Jesus.

Foundational Principles
The Programs of the Columbus & Living Water Rescue Mission are based upon, and structured around, five foundational principles that we believe are keys to success.

Matthew 7:24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:”

Our Identity is in Jesus Christ Alone:
A correctly perceived identity (who we are) is crucial for lasting, meaningful, life transformation. Therefore, our staff will assist each disciple in understanding where they stand in relation to God, and then assist you in forming your identity firmly around God alone.

Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Christlikeness is the Quality Standard for All Behavior:
The standard behavior for disciples and staff at the Columbus & Living Water Rescue Mission is Christlikeness. Those who claim to know the Father will seek to live as Jesus lived.

1st John 2:6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

Complete Accountability to God and Others:
Freedom from destructive behaviors will involve a commitment to “Christ-likeness”. To facilitate such life changes, all inappropriate behavior will be challenged. We call this process “complete accountability”. The accountability process is redemptive, not punitive.

Ephesians 4:15 speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ

Safe Environment
It is our goal to provide a safe and drug-free program environment. Your cooperation is essential to this end.

Ephesians 5:11 says; Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

Self-Evaluation:
We believe that the ability to evaluate one’s choices and behavior is the key to lasting change from the inside out. Self-evaluation allows people the freedom to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ.

Lamentations 3:40) says; “Let us examine our ways and test them, and return to the Lord”

Addiction: “Anyone in bondage to the rule of a substance, activity, or state of mind, which then becomes the center of life, defending itself from the truth so that even bad consequences don’t bring repentance, and leading to further estrangement from God.”
